Building water reconciliation
through knowledge and experience
LAUNCH
FINISH
Rachel Carson’s “Silent Spring” inspired the modern environmental movement and reminded us that we are not separate from the natural world. It was written for the new people to these lands because First peoples already knew that our lives are deeply interwoven into the fabric of the land and water.
The Weaving Waters Expedition is a journey by Canadian natural historian, Captain Allen Curry and the Water Weaver to hear local stories from the Great Lakes, along the Mississippi River and coastal zones of southeastern USA, down the St. Lawrence River, and around the coastal Maritimes of Canada. These stories and experiences will be woven into a water reconciliation message to inspire greater respect for water and build hope for our children.
ACTION PLAN
Visit local peoples
Listen to their stories
Create a water reconciliation message from knowledge, expertise, and experience
Inspire greater respect and understanding for natural waterways
THE MISSION
The Storyline
Weaving the waters of the route, local stories and experiences will be shared and woven into blogs/video logs and a book with the goal to reboot the messages of Rachel Carson and many Water Grandmothers.
